SOUTHAMPTON WRITERS CONFERENCE 2017

Writers! I would thoroughly recommend the Southampton Writers Conference. I got to workshop with the legend that is Billy Collins and be in the company of the utterly fabulous Sharon Olds. It was like a dream-come-true. And I met so many great people while I was there. Shout out to my new American writer friends!

Trying not to appear star-struck. I could have listened to this guy all day long. Brilliant AND funny.

Can I be Sharon Olds when I grow up? Please. Love, love, love her.

So, I hope Billy is as good at fortune-telling as he is at writing poems!

Reading at The Resurgence Poetry Prize in London

Me and my boy paid a flying visit to London on Monday for the prize giving ceremony of the Resurgence Eco Poetry Prize. I was so glad I made the effort to go over. It was great to meet everyone and of course to read my poem.

Ethan took a video for me too - thanks Ethan!

More photos and poems from the night are to be found over on the Resurgence website. Just click on the photo below and it'll bring you there.

We treated ourselves to lunch at Barbecoa and even managed to fit in a quick visit to the Tate Modern. We won't talk about the train to Stansted terminating its journey mid-way or the delayed plane or the missing of buses. We did get home...eventually!

Resurgence Poetry Prize

The most amazing thing just happened. I won third prize in the Resurgence Poetry Prize with Sonnet for the Glass Blower. The prizes are superb for a poetry competition. A thousand pounds for my little poem! I still can't quite believe it.

You can read it here along with the other winning poems:

And it seems I may have to go to London for the awards ceremony...exciting!

Cyphers

I have two poem-eens in the latest Cyphers. One of them may be called Sex. Just sayin'. There are plenty of copies in the wonderful Charlie Byrnes if anyone is in Galway.

I was in there the other day stocking up (as you do) and Vinnie says: You know you're buying two of the same thing? Yes, says I. Hmm, says he. Are you in it? ( I nod) Oh! What's your name?

Tis the little things...
